Who we are

This website, https://merakimarquees.co.uk, is run by Meraki Marquees Ltd, Shereford Lodge, Shereford, Fakenham, Norfolk NR21 7PP. Company number `.

Meraki Marquees Ltd is the data controller for the personal information collected through this website. If you have any question about this policy or about your information, email info@merakimarquees.co.uk or write to the address above.

What we collect and why

We only collect information you give us. We do not buy data about you or build profiles from it.

When you send us a quote

The quote form asks for your first and last name, your email address, your phone number, the date of your event, the venue address and postcode, and any notes on access and ground conditions. We use this to reply to you, to confirm whether the date and the marquee are available, to work out delivery, and, if you go ahead, to run your event.

We also record which page of our site your quote started from and any campaign tags in that page’s address, so we know which of our advertising brought you to us. This is taken from the page itself, not from anything stored on your device.

We need this information to deal with your enquiry and to carry out the contract if you book. Without it we cannot give you a quote.

When you use the contact form

The contact form asks for your name, your email address, your phone number if you want to give it, what your message is about, and the message itself. We use this to reply to you.

Emails we send

When you send a quote, two emails go out: one to us with your quote, your event details and your contact details, and one to you with your copy of the quote. A message sent through the contact form is emailed to us with your details so that we can reply. We do not send marketing email unless you have asked for it.

Cookies

A cookie is a small file that a website stores on your device. This site uses two kinds.

Cookies the site needs to work

When you add a marquee or an item to Your Quote, the site stores a cookie so that your quote stays together as you move between pages. It identifies your quote, not you, and expires after two days of inactivity. Without it the quote builder cannot work, so it is set without asking.

When you make a choice on the cookie notice, a cookie records that choice so that you are not asked again on every page. It holds your answer and nothing else, and lasts for a year.

Staff who log in to manage the site receive the standard WordPress login cookies. These are not set for visitors.

Google Analytics

With your consent, we use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site: which pages are visited, how visitors arrive, and roughly where in the country they are. This helps us improve the site and decide where to advertise.

Google Analytics sets cookies beginning `_ga` that give your browser a random identifier. It does not tell us who you are, and it does not store your full IP address. The identifier lasts for up to two years.

These cookies are only set if you accept them on the cookie notice when you first visit. You can change your mind at any time through the Cookie Settings button. Google’s own privacy policy is at https://policies.google.com/privacy, and Google offers a browser add-on that blocks Analytics on every site at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

The site has no comments, no visitor accounts, no advertising cookies and no social media tracking.

Content from other websites

Some pages may show content from other websites, such as a map. That content behaves as if you had visited the other website directly, and the other website may set its own cookies and collect its own data about your visit.

Who we share your information with

We never sell your information. We share it only where it is needed to deal with your enquiry or run your event:

The people who help us deliver your event, such as sub-contractors and the venue, so far as they need it to do their part.

Our insurers, if a claim arises that involves your event.

Our professional advisers, such as our accountants and solicitors, where we need their advice.

The companies that run our website, email and storage. They process your information on our behalf and only on our instructions.

Google, for the analytics described above, if you have consented.

The police, a court or a regulator, where the law requires it.

How long we keep your information

InformationKept For
A quote that does not become a booking12 months after the event date, then deleted
A contact form message12 months, then deleted (where it does not relate to a booking)
A booking and everything connected with it6 years after the event, because our accounting records must be kept for that long
Google Analytics data14 months, then Google deletes it

Where your information is stored

Your information is stored on servers in the United Kingdom. Google may process analytics data outside the UK; where it does, it is covered by the safeguards set out in Google’s own privacy policy.

The site is served over an encrypted connection, so what you type into a form cannot be read on its way to us.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct anything that is wrong;
  • ask us to delete your information;
  • ask us to stop using it, or to limit how we use it;
  • object to our using it;
  • receive the information you gave us in a form you can take elsewhere;
  • withdraw consent, where we rely on consent, at any time.

To use any of these rights, email info@merakimarquees.co.uk or write to us at the address above. We will reply within one month. We may need to confirm who you are before we act. Some information we must keep by law, such as accounting records, cannot be deleted before its time.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at https://ico.org.uk, by phone on 0303 123 1113, or at Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF. We would rather you came to us first so that we can try to put things right.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when the way the site works changes. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
